Obituary of James Joseph Squillace

James Joseph Squillace of Goshen, NY, went on to be with the Lord on Monday, May 23, 2016. He was 71. The son of the late Salvatore & Mary Albanese Squillace, he was born August 14, 1944 in Queens, NY. James was enlisted in the US Army in 1963 and served his country as a Staff Sergeant until being honorably discharged in 1969. He went on to become an officer with the NYPD where he worked with the 41st and 34th precincts for a total of 21 years before retiring. James had a love and passion for hard work that caused him to want to lend a helping hand at any opportunity that presented itself. His giving heart and warm personality aided him while serving as a deacon and on the Board of Trustees for at New Life Worship Center for nearly 15 years. James had a great love for the Lord that exuded his entire being and allowed him to be a blessing to his family and all those he came in contact with. "We have loved him in life, let us not forget him after death." Survivors include his wife, Donna Esdelle Squillace; daughter, Lia Metzger & husband Curt; daughter, Janemarie Squillace; son, Devon Squillace; daughter, Inga Squillace; daughter, Angela Squillace; grandson, Jake Tyler Metzger; and several nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his loving church family. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Michael & Salvatore "Hank" Squillace. Visitation will be held Friday, May 27th from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM, with church service to follow 8PM at Greater Upperoom Apostolic Faith Church, 1 Linden Avenue, Middletown, NY. There will be no burial and cremation will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Life Worship Center Building Fund, PO Box 217, Chester, NY 10918.
