John P. Dever Sr. of Florida, NY the retired owner of Devers News, Florida, NY entered into rest on Monday November 28, 2016, he was 87. The son of the late John F. and Anna V. Byrnes Dever he was born November 30, 1928 in New York, NY. He was married to the late Frances Lempka Dever. John was a member of St. Joseph Church, St. Joseph Holy Name Society, St. Joseph Parish Committee, Florida Lions Club, Greenwood Lake Elks, and the Warwick Valley Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his sons John P. Dever Jr. and wife Ruth of Midlothian, VA.; James E. Dever and wife Harriett of Milford, PA.; and Richard Dever and his wife Jane C. of Florida, NY; one grandson Michael Dever; one granddaughter Leaida Dever; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Amanda Dever. Visitation will be held Thursday December 1, 2016 from 5-8 PM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home 22 Glenmere Ave. Florida, NY 10921. Funeral mass will be held 11am on Friday December 2, 2016 at St. Joseph Church 20 Glenmere Ave. Florida, NY 10921. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Florida, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis,TN. 38105-1905 or to Make-A-Wish Foundation 4742 N. 24th Street Suite 400 Phoenix, AZ 85016.
