Robert D. "Uncle Bob" Crowe, 75 of Pine Island, NY, entered into rest on Monday, April 10, 2017. The son of the late William D. & Dorothy A. Crowe, he was born Feb 28, 1942 in Paterson, NJ. He is a veteran of the United States Navy and served from March, 1962 to June, 1966 as a ballistic missileman. He served on the USS Perry, a cruiser out of Mayport, Fl. He enjoyed over 45 years being a truck driver. He proudly finished his career driving 16 years for Brian and Paul Gurda from Gurda Transportation. He was a proud member of the Polish Legion of American Veteran's Post 16. He is survived by his son, William B. Crowe and wife Teri, residing in Greenfield Center, NY; daughter, Christina Crowe and fiancé Scott Truex, residing in Middletown, NY. He was a loving grandfather to 10 beautiful grandchildren. A brother to Richard Crowe and wife, Sallie of Wanaque, NJ; Nieces, Rebecca Lyczak and husband Matt, of Collegeville, Pa., and Rachael Crowe of Brooklyn, NY. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Visitation will be held from 1-4pm, Friday, April 14th at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route# 1, Pine Island, NY with a funeral service held 4PM. Immediately after the funeral service, the family invites everyone to the PLAV Post 16, 16 Legion, Pine Island, NY. Cremation will be held privately. Burial of ashes will be held 11AM, Wednesday, April 19th at O.C. Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
