Obituary of Leonard Dlugolecki

Leonard Dlugolecki, of Goshen, NY, a retired line worker for Ford Motor Company, Mahwah, NJ, entered into rest on Friday, April 28, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was 84. The son of the late Chester Dlugolecki & Catherine Schultz Dlugolecki, he was born December 20, 1932 in Goshen, NY. Leonard's years of service in the US Army were from 3/1953 to 3/1955. He achieved the rank of Corporal. He married the love of his life, Theresa, on February 20, 1954. After retiring from Ford, Leonard worked for Orange County Public Works on the bridge crew. Leonard loved the outdoors. His passion was hunting, mostly deer and turkeys. He was a member of White Oak Hunting Club for many years. He enjoyed puttering around outside either gardening or listening to his favorite polka music. He was an expert at building wood duck and bluebird houses. He enjoyed going to casinos and would talk for hours telling us all his strategies on how to beat the machines. We will miss Dads no nonsense, straight to the point opinions and advice. Survivors include his daughter, Paula Jean Dlugolecki of Port Jervis, NY; son, Ken Dlugolecki & wife Jeanne-Ann of Goshen; son-in-law, Rob Space of Florida, NY; brother, Dennis Dlugolecki & wife Pam of Hornell, NY; 6 grandchildren, Theresa, Alyse, Danny, Kevin, Kelly, & Chelsea. He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa Andryshak Dlugolecki and daughter, Joanne Space. Visitation will be held Monday, May 1st from 2-4 & 7-9pm at T.S. Purta Funeral, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921. Funeral mass will be held 10AM Tuesday, May 2nd at St. Joseph Church, 20 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Florida, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, 18 Seward Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940.
