Gary A. Bennett Jr. of Westtown, NY, an Overhead Line Supervisor for PSE&G, Newark, NJ, entered-into rest on Wednesday June 11, 2025, at home surrounded by his family.  He was 65.

The son of Gary A. Bennett Sr. and Jeanette (Watch) Bennett, he was born on August 1, 1959 in Sussex, NJ.

Gary was a devoted husband, father, papa, friend, and coworker.  His greatest joy was his family, and he dedicated his life to ensuring they always had the best that life had to offer.  He possessed unwavering strength and integrity and took pride in doing his best in all aspects of his life.  He was a dedicated lineman for several years before transitioning into a supervisor role where he thrived in mentoring and passing down any knowledge that he could to anyone who was lucky enough to work with him.  He was a lifelong member of the community and loved to coach many youth sports as his children grew up.  He served as a past Exalted Ruler of the Middletown Elks Lodge 1097.  As an avid hunter, Gary was a lifetime member of the Oak Ridge Rod & Gun Club in Otisville, NY.  He loved spending hunting season with his sons and grandson and his spirit will continue to man his tree stand every November.  Gary also enjoyed camping, boating, and fishing in his spare time and made family vacations a priority.  He never let a summer go by where a vacation wasn’t planned, whether it be on the beach or on the lake, he ensured his family had their annual time to relax, unwind, and laugh together.  He will be missed every single day by everyone who knew him, and words fail to express the impact his life had on so many.

He is survived by his wife, Jodi Lynn (Filipowski) Bennett; daughter, Danielle Czajka and husband Pete; son, Gary A. Bennett III and his wife Emily; son, Justin Bennett and his wife Kaylyn; as well as 4 grandchildren, Addison Lynn; Braxton Michael; Raegan Marie; and Kristie Lee due in October.  He is also survived by his parents.

Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18th from 4-7PM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route# 1, Pine Island, NY 10969. A memorial prayer service will take place 7PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, where Gary made sure to make an annual donation.
