Maureen Miller of Warwick, NY, entered into rest on September 25, 2025 at her home. She was 85.
The daughter of the late Francis T. Kelly & Anne C. Mahoney Kelly, she was born on April 17, 1940 in Bronx, NY.
Maureen and her late husband Jim moved to the Warwick Area in 1970.
NOTES: Graduate of Bethpage High School in 1958. Attended SUNY Brockport, graduated Adelphi in 1964. Received her Master’s from Montclair University in 1975. Member of the Warwick Little League and managed the girls softball league for 11 years. Taught for 33 years as a health and physical education teacher. She taught in Greenwood Lake for 26 of those years and coached for several.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Pine Island, Pine Island Seniors and a member of NYSAHPERD and a member of the Super Seniors Bowling League.
She is survived by her children, Scott Hobart Miller and his wife Barbara; Kelly Maureen Chirico and her husband Dave. Her grandchildren are Katt, Ken-James, Thomas, Scott, Sean, Brian and Jenna and step grandson Robert Chirico. Great grandchildren Leighla, Iliana, Emersyn, Maddie’Kae, Alana, Hannah, Oliver, Case, Lorik and Oaklyn. As well as several brother in laws, sister in laws and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband James Hobart Miller whom she was married to for 50 years as well as her son Ken-James Miller.
Special thanks to Yvonne Ozello who cared for mom with a lot of patience.
Visitation will be held on Monday September 29 from 2-6 PM at the T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route#1, Pine Island, NY 10969.
Funeral mass will be held Tuesday September 30 at 10:30 AM at St. Stanislaus Church, Pine Island, NY.
Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Pine Island.
