Edward V. Heter of Tarboro, NC, formerly of Florida, NY, entered into rest on September 30th, 2025.  He was 91 years old.

The son of the late Peter Heter and Catherine Sosler Heter, he was born on August 9th, 1934 in Florida, NY.

He is survived by his partner, Ed Manning; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and his dear friends in Mostar – Ortijes, Bosnia-Herzegovina (Mama Dana & Cana, Milan, Adisa (at rest), Stefan, Ogi, Vanja Medan and Teo Marinovic & family from Split, Croatia), all of his friends in South FL especially friends of 52 years George & Danny Hawes.

He was predeceased by his 9 siblings, Carl Heter, Bernard Heter, Josephine Turi, Jean DeBella, Constance Heter, Daniel Heter, Benjamin Heter, Eleanor Kazar and Theresa Russo.

Ed Heter was a long-standing member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Tarboro, NC.  His faith, family and friends were the most important things in his life.  He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, a Catholic Men’s organization and was instrumental in many of their charitable campaigns especially the Tootsie Roll Drive.

Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, October 10th from 9-10:45AM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921.

Funeral Mass will be held 11AM Friday, October 10th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 14 Glenmere Ave., Florida, NY 10921, followed by a cremation burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Florida, NY.

Memorial Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church located at 1004 St. David Street, Tarboro, NC 27886 sometime in the near future.
