John Joseph Straub a lifelong resident of Chester, NY, entered into rest on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at home.  He was 94.

The son of the late Joseph P. Straub Sr. and Zofia Michalek Straub, he was born on September 2, 1931 in Chester, NY.

John had a passion for hunting and enjoyed being a sportsman with his brothers, Henry and Bob. Growing up on a farm, he never stopped working.  Whether it was cutting/splitting firewood or riding his tractor “Harry” in his yard or in the lower 40, he was always up to something.  Summertime meant canning pickles or his famous zucchini sticks, you could often times find him in his gardens.  He was known to have the same breakfasts, oatmeal, two eggs and a coffee. He will be certainly missed.

He is survived by his son, John Straub Jr. (Lisa Wood, his mis); grandson, Kyle Straub; granddaughter, Erika Straub; 2 brothers, Joseph Straub (Lucille) and Robert Straub (Cynthia); sister, Anne Shuback; sister-in-law, Lorraine Straub; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Patricia Kujawski Straub; brother, Henry Straub Sr.; sisters, Kathryn Straub, Josephine Janiak, Helen Nozkowski and Sister Mary Albert O.P.

As per his wishes, there will be no visitation, and cremation will be held privately.

A funeral memorial mass will be held 10:30AM Thursday, November 6th at St. Joseph Church, Florida, NY.
