It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel James Kane, a true woodsman and master of his craft, who lived his life exactly the way he wanted—surrounded by the peace, quiet, and wild beauty of nature. Danny entered into rest on Saturday, June 20th, 2026. He was 54 years old. The son of Stephen and Linda Kane, he was born on August 15th ,1971 in Westwood, New Jersey.  Raised in Warwick, New York, Danny passed away leaving behind a legacy of hard work, tall tales, and a deep respect for the great outdoors.

A Master of the Earth and the Wilds

Danny was known professionally as a highly skilled heavy equipment operator. He possessed a rare skill set and talent, taking immense pride in his work every day.

When he wasn’t on a job site, Danny could be found in his true element: the wilderness. He was an avid hunter and an adept fisherman who knew the rhythms of the seasons better than anyone. For Danny, the world was best viewed from a tree stand at dawn or a boat on a glass-calm lake.

Deep Roots and New Sanctuaries

Long before he found his paradise at the lake, Danny forged the foundational, lifelong friendships in the hallowed streets of Old Brook Estates in Warwick. Those deeply rooted friendships, along with all the buddies he made over the years, were incredibly important to Danny. He carried an immense love for his dear friends, and those bonds never wavered, no matter where life took him.

In his later years, his heart belonged to Wolf Lake. He deeply loved his life there, the crisp morning air and the endless opportunities to step out his front door and into nature. Danny's life there was made whole by the wonderful neighbors of Wolf Lake, who welcomed him into their homes and lives with open arms, love, and grace. For this profound kindness and community spirit, Danny’s family is endlessly grateful.

Family and Legacy

Danny’s rugged spirit and genuine love for the simple things in life live on through the family he cherished. He is survived by his mother, Linda, his devoted partner, Robin Kleveno, his brother, Matthew, and sister-in-law, Mindy and his cherished nieces, Georgia and Shay.

Danny also held a special place in his heart as the honorary "Grandpa Dan" to Robin’s four grandchildren—Dillon, Jacob, Cooper, and Brynley—whom he loved dearly and cherished sharing his world with. An animal lover at heart, he also deeply loved his many pups over the years, including Winston, Pepper, Alice, and Grace, who brought so much joy to his life. 

Danny was reunited in peace with those who went before him. He was predeceased by his beloved sister, Jenny, and his father, Stephen.

Danny’s quick wit, strength, and presence will be deeply missed by his family, his lifelong hunting, fishing and golf buddies from Warwick to Wolf Lake, and everyone who had the privilege of calling him a friend.

A celebration of Danny’s life will be held on Saturday, June 27th from 11am - 1pm, at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route#1, Pine Island, NY 10969 with a prayer services begging at 1PM. Danny's family would like those attending to please dress casual. Family and friends are invited to gather at a reception afterwards to share stories of his crazy antics and biggest catches and raise a glass in his honor.
