Margaret "Peggy" Johnson entered into rest at her home in Westtown, NY, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer, she was 65.
She was born in Sussex, NJ on June 26, 1952 to Richard "Dick" & Elizabeth "Betty" Barczak Johnson of Wantage, NJ.
Peggy attended High Point Regional High School Class of '71. She went to Orange County Community College and graduated from Ramapo College of NJ in 2016 with a degree in environmental sciences. She worked for Alexander Lynn Hospital in Sussex, NJ, Empire Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Prudential Insurance Company, Caremark Insurance Company, Assistant Town Clerk at the Town of Minisink in Westtown, NY, O.C.C.C. and Ramapo College as a research assistant and at her children's businesses, D'Andrea's Jewelers, Wantage, NJ & J. Alexander Jewelers, West Milford, NJ.
Peggy was 15 year member of the American Legion Post 213, Sussex, NJ; Past President of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary; past member of the Hudson Valley Polonaise Society; Garden State Black Powder Association and Lenape Ambulance Corps. She was avid in genealogy & her family history. She also loved to be outside and gardening.
She is survived by her 3 children, Andrea L. Randolph, Alexis A. Randolph and John R. Pytleski all of Unionville, NY. She is also survived by her 3 grandchildren, Darian, Emily & Adrianna Raub; 3 siblings, Nancy McCurdy & husband William (Bill) of Sussex, NJ; Richard Johnson of Sussex, NJ and John Johnson of Port Jervis, NY; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is predeceased by her loving parents, Richard "Dick" and Elizabeth "Betty" Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 14th from 2-4 & 7-9PM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route#1, Pine Island, NY 10969.
Funeral services will be held 10:00AM on Saturday, July 15th at the funeral home. Burial to follow in Clove Cemetery, Sussex, NJ.
