Obituary of Barry J. Auberger

On May 29, 2023 Barry J. Auberger was sent to his final resting place. He is pre-deceased by his biological father Alan Funkhouser of Baker, West Virginia.  He spent his last 23 years with his wife Ronni. Barry loved being out in the hay field playing farmer and taking care of his cows. A lot of times he had to fix what he broke but that was part of it. Barry loved being a dad to his daughters Stacy and her husband Andres (Blanco)and Kristin and her husband Justin (Saporito) all from Wantage; his stepdaughter, Megan and her husband Jason (Smith) of Branchville and his stepson Rob, stationed in San Diego, California. Best of all he loved being a pop pop to 8 beautiful grandchildren. He was lucky enough to be blessed with his “forever brothers” Scott, Johnny, Bobby and Justin.  Barry loved his Harley!  He and Ronni made many trips together.  He also loved his beloved black lab named “Harley”.  Barry was a hardworking man.  He loved fixing equipment.  He spent many years at Mike Fitzpatrick and Sons in Oak Ridge until his retirement. After retiring he needed to keep busy so he worked for Spiedel and Sons in Vernon.  He loved getting up every morning to go to work. He often said it wasn’t work it was fun.  He loved the guys at Spiedels.  They were family.  He always stopped at the Tracks Deli for his coffee and sandwich (sometimes, beating Scott the owner, there).  If you knew Barry you were blessed.  He will be missed by many.

As per his wishes, cremation was held privately.  A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, June 3^rd from 9am-12pm at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route# 1, Pine Island, NY 10969.  Immediately following the memorial visitation, all are invited to the Vernon V.F.W., 313 NJ-94, Vernon, NJ 07462.
