John P. Doro of Florida, NY, entered into rest on Friday, August 11, 2023 after a courageous 5 year battle with cancer. He was 76.

The son of the late Andrew Doro and Anna Hornacek Doro, was born on March 2, 1947 in the Bronx.

John’s education consisted of St. Jeromes Grammer School in the Bronx and then attended Cardinal Spellman in 1964, where he later attended St. Joseph’s Seminary in Barrytown, NY. John enlisted in the US Airforce in 1964 where he served 4 years as ground support in Europe. He ended his service as a Sergeant and the grade of E4.

He served for 2 years as President of the Orange County Parents without Partners in the late 70’s. He worked for various telecommunications companies in the Hudson Valley before starting his own business, JDTEL in 1995 and retired in 2018.

He is survived by his adoring wife of 43 years, Kathleen Carroll Doro; son, Louis Doro (Melissa); daughter, Denise Quinn (Brian); son, John Doro Jr. (Briane); son, Matthew Doro (Kelli); 11 grandchildren, Hailey, Josh (Jaela), Emma, Olivia and Bella Doro; Brian Jr., Colin, William and James Quinn; Annabelle and Matthew Doro Jr.; 2 great-grandchildren, Ezra and Ellie Doro; brother, Andrew Doro (Catherine); sister, Mary Ann Pugliese (William); sister, Tracie Hayes; sister, Alice Doro; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17th from 4-7pm at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921. Legion services will be held 6:30pm Thursday evening at the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held 10AM Friday, August 18th at the funeral home.

Burial will be held in the Orange County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924 with full military honors.
