Obituary of Dolores Romanko

Dolores (LaLa) Romanko, 80, from Pine Island, NY, entered into rest on October 9, 2015. She was born on October 15, 1934 in Jersey City, NJ to Anna & John Tomaszewski. Dolores was married to her husband, Andrew for nearly 60 years. Together they owned and operated their deli – Pine Island Food Center – for almost 27 years before they retired in 1995. Dolores enjoyed bowling and playing pinochle with her dear friends, who called themselves "Double Deck". Going away each year to the bowling nationals or the state tournaments gave her so much pleasure. Lots of laughs and wonderful memories will be remembered by those who went with her. She was a loving mother, grandmother (babci) and great-grandmother. Her funny stories of her younger days growing up with 5 brothers were so much fun to listen to. Her love of children was so obvious to all that knew her. Dolores was predeceased by her parents, her husband Andy, her 4 brothers; John (Janek) and his late wife Madeline; Stanley (Stas) and his late wife Teresa; Joseph (Yu-Yu), and Thomas (Babe); and daughter in law, Ruby Romanko. She is survived by her children; Debbie Zagorski and her husband Alan from Glendale, AZ; Mark Romanko & his wife Patty from Chestertown, NY and Linda Sisco from Pine Island; grandchildren, Bethany Benenati and husband Max, Andrew Romanko, Christine LaFrance and husband Dan and David Romanko; great grandson, Caleb Benenati; brother, Ted and his wife Evy; sister in law, Selma Tomaszewski; along with several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews. Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15th from 2-4 & 6-9PM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route#1, Pine Island, NY 10969. Funeral mass will be held 11:00AM Friday, October 16th at St. Stanislaus Church, Pine Island, NY.
