Henry Daniel “Dan” Kithcart Jr. of the Town of Greenville, NY, a retired self-employed contractor, entered into rest on Thursday, March 7, 2024 after a brief illness, surrounded by his family. He was 77.

Born in Middletown, NY, to the son of the late Henry Daniel Kithcart Sr. and Bernice Clark Kithcart.

Dan was a graduate of Minisink Valley High School. He later joined the US Airforce, where he served in Guam, Okinawa and Thailand during the Vietnam Theater. After serving his country, he graduated from Morehead State University.

He was a long-time member of the Minisink Hose Company# 1, Unionville, NY.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Poletynski Kithcart; sister, Andrea Brishke and her daughter Heidi; brother, Gene Kithcart (Lori Green) and his daughters, Shawn and Brooke; his late sister, Robin Schmick’s children, Melissa and Craig; sister-in-law, Joan Sutton (Paul) and their daughter, Kimberly; brother-in-law, Joseph Poletynski (Eileen) and their two sons, Stephen and James; along with several great nephews and a great niece.

He was predeceased by his sister, Robin Schmick (2013).

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 11th from 4-7pm at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route# 1, Pine Island, NY 10969.

A funeral service will be held 12 noon Tuesday, March 12th at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Orange County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924 with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local humane society or to the ASPCA.
