Obituary of Woodrow Doty

Woodrow "Woody" Wilson Doty Jr. of Kauneonga Lake, NY, entered into rest on Sunday, May 8, 2016. He was 71. The son of the late Woodrow Wilson Doty Sr. & Lorraine Scheuermann Doty, he was born April 9, 1945 in Warwick, NY. Woody was an avid sportsman. He was a member of the Excelsior Sportsman Club. He was inducted into the NYS Amateur Trapshooting Association Hall of Fame in 1988 and won numerous awards, but was especially renowned in the doubles trapshoot event, "C A PAIR". Woody also shot steel tip darts in Sussex County and several other dart leagues including the soft tip dart league in Sullivan County and won many championships. His memory will live on in the hearts of many who loved him. Survivors include his longtime partner, Kathleen Brandes; mother of his children, Doreen Doty; son, Daniel Doty; daughter, Darla Hamling (Peter); son, Darren Doty; son, Dean Doty (Sandra); grandchildren, Sarina, Raquel, Hunter, Savannah, Barbara Jean; brother, Robert Doty, sister, Sherald "Sis" Brown; brother, Gerald Doty; aunt, Norma Bryant; along with numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. He was predeceased by son, Woodrow Wilson Doty III; sister, Janet Lemons. As per his wishes, cremation was held privately. Memorial visitation will be held from 2-4 & 7-9PM Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921. Memorial service will be held 11:00AM Thursday, May 12th at the funeral home.
