Obituary of Gloria Parmerter

Gloria Parmerter, 83, of Florida, NY passed away Tuesday May 24 at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, with friends and family at her side, after a three month struggle following heart surgery. The daughter of Frank and Joanna (Gryczewski) Regelski, and the last of seven children, Gloria was born Jan. 12, 1933 in Florida, NY. Gloria graduated from St. Joseph's School and from S.S. Seward Institute, both in Florida. She married Richard Parmerter on Nov. 19, 1955 and they moved into the New Street, Florida home they shared for 54 years. Gloria had a lifetime love of gardening, tending the birds that flocked to her yard, her several cats (the latest being Tilly, Blackie and Gray), cooking and baking. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the St. Josephs Living Rosary Society in Florida, as well as a long-time supporter of several humane societies. Gloria is survived by sister-in-law Shirley Carr of Florence, SC; brother-in-law Robert Parmerter of Schenevus, NY; good friends Weronika and Walter Welsh; nephew Leo Regelski Jr of Montgomery & Niece Sandra Kleveno Brown of Moravia, NY and other nieces, nephews and cousins. Gloria is now reunited with her husband Richard; mother, Joanna, and father, Frank; brothers, Leo, Tony, Stanley, Walter, John; and sister Frances. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Special thanks to the staff at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City for the extraordinary care that she received. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday May 26 at the T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Ave, Florida, NY. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday May 27 at St. Josephs R.C. Church, 14 Glenmere Ave, Florida. Interment will be in St. Josephs Cemetery, Florida, NY.
