Obituary of Constantine Morgiewicz

Constantine "Connie" Morgiewicz a lifelong resident of Pine Island, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016. He was 90. The son of the late Peter Morgiewicz & Josephine Uszenski Morgiewicz, he was born April 13, 1926 in Pine Island, NY. He was a devout Catholic and dedicated member of St. Stanislaus Church in Pine Island. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, Pine Island and a 66 year member of the Pulaski Fire Company. He was a retired onion farmer, Ford Motor Company employee and drove for Borvig Ski Lifts, before becoming a driver for the Orange County Department of Public Works. He enjoyed driving his 1945 Willys, spending time at the lake with family and friends and driving just about anywhere. Connie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Doris; his daughter Diane Scileppi and her husband, Thomas of Mongaup Valley, NY; his son, Gregory Morgiewicz of Pine Island, NY; his daughter Lynn Rabena and her husband Sonny of Woodland, CA; his daughter Donna Bierstine-Albert and her husband Joseph of Middletown, NY; his sister, Theresa Wozny of Paramus, NJ; his grandchildren, Jessica Lucas and Nicole Bierstine; and his great grandchildren, Aiden, Wyatt, Ethan and Josephine; brother-in-law, Donald VanDuzer; family friend Tony Bierstine and many nieces and nephews. Connie was predeceased by his parents; three brothers and six sisters, Stanley, Zigmund, John, Florence, Czeslaw, Julianna, Estelle, Anna and Blanche. Connie will be greatly missed by all family and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31st from 2-4 & 6-8PM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route# 1, Pine Island, NY 10969. Firematic services will be held 7PM followed by Holy Name Services at 7:30PM. Funeral mass will be held 10AM Wednesday, June 1st at St. Stanislaus Church, Pine Island, NY. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Pine Island, NY In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Holy Name Society, c/o David Morgiewicz, President, 32 Scenic Drive, Hamburg, NJ 07419, any veteran's organization or charity of one's choice.
