Obituary of Edward Gurda

Edward Gurda of Middletown, NY entered into rest on Sunday June 19, 2016, he was 83. The son of the late George and Helen Kozireski Gurda he was born February 28, 1933 in Warwick, NY. Ed was a lifelong produce farmer, and a retired dispatcher from LP Transportation, Chester, NY. He was a member of: Pulaski Fire Company Pine Island, NY for over 50 Years, Past President of the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce, Whip-poor-will Hunting Club, Agricultural Stabilization Committee, and OC Vegetable Growers Association. Survivors include his wife Ann Gurda at home; daughter Kathleen Smith and husband Stan; son Gerard Gurda and wife Nellie; son David Gurda; daughter Carol Smith and husband Scott; daughter Annette Saverino and husband Anthony; and son Andrew Gurda. 7 Grandchildren Michelle Gurda, Sarah Smith, Taylor Gurda, Anthony Saverino, Edward Saverino, Arianna Saverino, and Lisandra Gurda. Brothers Ralph Gurda of Goshen, George Gurda of Pine Island, and Kenneth Gurda of Pine Island. Many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Floyd Gurda. Visitation will be held on Thursday June 23, 2016 from the hours of 2-4 and 6-9 PM at the T.S. Purta Funeral Home 690 Co. 1 Pine Island, NY 10969. Funeral mass will be held 10 am on Friday June 24, 2016 at St. Stanislaus Church 17 Pulaski Hwy., Pine Island, NY . Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery Pine Island, NY.
