Edgar R. Simonson of Warwick, NY, a retired Engineer for Mobil, entered into rest on Friday, May 30, 2014. He was 84. The son of the late Edgar Simonson & Catherine Brown Simonson, he was born on February 9, 1930 in Staten Island, NY. He was a member and Past President of St. Joseph Holy Name Society, Florida, NY and a member of St. Joseph Church, Florida, NY. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and worked for the Board of Elections. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Lois Knable Simonson at home, Warwick, NY; daughter, Donna Christensen & husband Arthur of Warwick; 2 grandchildren, Jennifer Burrow & husband Brian of Goshen; Daniel Edgar Christensen & wife Jill of Goshen; great granddaughter, Delilah Burrow; 2 sisters, Jean Connaughton of Warren, NJ; Joan Heavey of Whiting, NJ; brother, Kenneth Simonson of Manahawkin, NJ. And several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Doris Sorquist. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 1st from 2-4 & 7-9PM at the T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Ave., Florida, NY 10921. Funeral Mass will be held 10AM Monday, June 2, 2014 at St. Joseph Church, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921. The Reverend Joseph Tokarczyk will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Florida, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church, 14 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921.
