Stanley Sosler Obituary
Stanley Edward Sosler, formerly of Florida, NY, entered into rest on August 26, 2010 at the age of 91. He was born in the village of Florida, NY to Felix & Margaret Heater Sosler where he spent most of his adult life until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife Jean, nee: Ruskiewicz, married October 18, 1947, and his three children: Dennis & wife Joy of Wellington, FL; Bonita M. York & husband Byron J. II of Ridgefield, CT. and Allan of Warwick, NY.
He is also survived by six grandchildren: Krista Strathie & husband Doug, Karyn Ahwai & husband Shane, Lauren McElroy & husband Robert, Lisa Thomas & husband Jonathan, Jessica & Byron J. York III. Three great grandchildren: Robert E. and Katie Jo McElroy and Kaitlyn Strathie.
Stanley was one of thirteen children. He was predeceased by brothers: Adam, Joseph, Anthony, Louis, Felix, and Edward, and sisters Alice Pluta, Helen Schwert, Frances Rosiecki and Agnes Kotarski. He is survived by sisters Rosie Greener & Cecil Labriola, and numerous nieces & nephews.
Stanley served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Battle of the Bulge and was a decorated veteran due to his war injuries, receiving several decorations, citations and medals. He retired from the Orange Co. Government in Goshen, NY before moving to Spring Hill, FL. Most recently he lived in Barefoot Bay, FL and was a member of St. Luke’s R. C. Church in Micco, FL. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, pinochle, watching baseball, and cooking & baking special treats for his family.
Private memorial services will be held for immediate family only. He will be interned at the South Florida V.A. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the William Childs Hospice House, 381 Medplex Pkwy., Palm Bay, FL 32905
