Raymond Bigert of Pine Island, NY, a retired Machinist and toolmaker for Picatinny Arsenal, entered into rest on Sunday, July 06, 2014 at O.R.M.C., Middletown, NY. He was 80. The son of the late Henry J. Bigert Sr. and Julia S. Daios Bigert, he was born April 29, 1934 in Pine Island, NY. Raymond was a US Army Korean Veteran and a avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include his wife Bernadette "Bernie" Bigert at home; 2 daughters, Theresa Bernhardsen & husband David of Warwick, NY; Denise Madura & husband Christopher of Slate Hill; 3 grandchildren, Jason Bernhardsen; Shana & Brooke Madura; 5 sisters; Dorothy Wright and husband Arthur of Dunnellon, Fla.; Irene Wilk of Flemington, NJ; Victoria Myruski and husband Lewis of Goshen; Julia Gorczynski of Garfield, NJ; and Patricia Crowe and husband Michael of Middletown, NY. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Stanley & Henry Bigert Jr. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 9th from 9-11AM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 Co. Rt. 1, Pine Island, NY. Funeral service will be held 11AM, Wednesday, July 9th at the funeral home. Burial will be in the O.C. Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Goshen, NY. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project www.woundedwarriorproject.org
