Harry “Jerry” Golemboski of Lake Wales, FL formerly of Florida, NY entered into rest Monday, July 18, 2011. He was 88. The son of the late Andrew & Tekla Rutina Golemboski, he was born on February 5, 1923 in Florida, NY. Survivors include his beloved wife, Josephine Sawicki Golemboski at home, son, Stephen Golemboski & his wife Valerie of Albany, NY, daughter, Mary Alice Conway of Slate Hill, NY; along with 2 grandchildren, Kristin & Brandon Conway; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Andrew & Charles Golemboski and 3 sisters, Christine Kocot, Julia Szeles & Anna Zjawin. Jerry retired from Chester Cable after working for 40 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Church Holy Name Society, Florida, NY. He was also a 65 year member of the Florida Fire Department. For 23 years he served as the department secretary. He was a member of the fire department’s executive committee and a member of its fire police. In 1976 he was the recipient of “The Fireman of the Year” award. He also served as a fire commissioner for the Florida Fire District. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 20th from 12:30- 2:30 P.M. at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921. Firematic services will be held 2PM, Saturday August 20th at the funeral home followed by a Memorial Service at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Avenue, Auburndale, FL 33823.
