James F. Quackenbush of Warwick, NY, entered into rest on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 in St. Anthony Community Hospital, Warwick. He was 73. The son of the late Edgar & Sybil Lucha Quackenbush, he was born on August 14, 1938 in Warwick, NY. James was involved for many years with harness racing at the Monticello Raceway. He was also an avid Yankees fan, who loved spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his beloved wife of 53 years, Hazel Owens Quackenbush at home, his daughter, Darlene Waddell, and son, James Quackenbush, 6 grandchildren, Susan Waddell, Raymond Waddell, Billy Wiesmeth, April Plotkin and her husband Jason, James Quackenbush Jr. and Jamie Quackenbush; 2 great-granddaughters, Chloe Plotkin & Ava Plotkin, 3 Sisters, Barbara Barber, Bonnie Freda (Jack), Sandy Sisco (Ronnie), Sister-in-Law, Marilyn Quackenbush and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother, Edgar Quackenbush Jr., brother-in-law, Wayne Barber. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 20th from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route# 1, Pine Island, NY 10969. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM at the funeral home. The family would like to express its gratitude to all of the ICU Staff at St. Anthony’s Hospital and to Dr. Wang and the staff at Warwick Medical. Memorial contributions may be made to Warwick Community Ambulance Corps., PO Box 315, Warwick, NY 10990.
