Katherine Grohoski of Goshen, NY entered into rest on July 19, 2014 in Highland Rehabilitation, Middletown, she was 70. The daughter of the late Jim and Bertha Lippelt Brown, she was born on December 9, 1943 in Los Angeles, Ca. She grew up in Liberty with some time spent in Texas . After graduating from Liberty High she moved to Miami to attend college and then worked at Jackson Memorial Hospital . She met and married Marvin Fahn who predeceased her . She later moved to Middletown to care for her ill mother . Katherine was a past member of the Florida Volunteer Ambulance Corps. and Fire Dept. before the onset of her illness . She was most proud of having been the second female firefighter to be a member of the fire department . She is survived by her husband William Grohoski at home; her daughter Leza Bowman and her husband Shayne of Newburgh; son Marc Fahn of Middletown; Granddaughter Zoey Bowman-Calison; adopted grandchildren Jaydan and Danellen Bussell ; half sister Stephanie Riemsnyder; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. As per Katherine's wishes there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held 10 am on Friday July 25, 2014 at St. Joseph Church 20 Glenmere Ave. Florida, NY 10921. Rev. Bernard Heter will officiate. Inurnment will be held in Miami, where she left her heart, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Florida Fire and Rescue P.O. Box 600, Florida, NY 10921 or to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
