Harriet Barlet of Florida, NY, entered into rest on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Schervier Pavilion, Warwick, NY. She was 91. The daughter of the late Samuel & Rachael Dimm, she was born on June 27, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, Arnold A. Barlet. She was a member of Temple Beth Shalom, Florida, NY. Harriet was one of the original members of the Women's Army Corp, which was formed under President Roosevelt in 1943. She entered military service in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corp in 1942 and served until 1945 as an air traffic controller at Mitchell Field in Garden City. During her retirement years, she volunteered her time with the Times Herald Record's People for People Fund. She also served on her condo board and as a trustee for Temple Beth Shalom. She was also a volunteer for the Jewish Federation of Greater Orange County. She is survived by her Daughter, Nancy Barlet & husband John Carver of Oakland, California; Son, Peter Barlet & wife Iris of Warwick, NY; Daughter, Suzanne Wildove & husband Edward of Cobleskill, NY; 5 Grandchildren, Lisa & her husband Arthur, Regina, Grace, Scott & Andrew; 1 Great Granddaughter, Isabella; Brother, William Dimm of the State of Florida as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 29th at Temple Beth Shalom, 13 Roosevelt Avenue, Florida, NY 10921. Rabbi Rebecca Shinder will officiate. Burial will be in Temple Beth Shalom Cemetery, Florida, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Beth Shalom, P.O. Box 517, Florida, NY 10921 OR to Jewish Family Services, 720 Route 17M, Middletown, NY 10940.
