Eleanor Champigny of Sandwich, MA, a retired Secretary for the Department of the Interior, Washington, DC, entered into rest on Friday, June 1, 2012. She was 74. The daughter of Felicia Figurski Wanczyk & the late Stanley Wanczyk, was born on August 14, 1937 in Goshen, NY. Eleanor was a loving wife and devoted mother who volunteered time and talent to the Sandwich Glass Museum. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gerald F. Champigny at home in Sandwich, MA; mother, Felicia Wanczyk of Florida, NY and four children; Brian G. Champigny of Suffolk, VA; Donna C. Bush of Beallsville, MD; Karen A. Champigny of Bernardsville, NJ; Christopher J. Champigny of Woodstown, NJ, and 8 Grandchildren; 2 sisters, Frances Warren of Goshen, NY & Anne Gurda of Middletown, NY; 1 Brother, Stanley Wanczyk Jr. of Middletown, NY. And several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 7th from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 7th at St. Joseph Church and the burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Florida, NY. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 14 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921.
