Obituary of Raymond F. Green

Raymond F. Green, a lifelong resident of Florida, NY ,a retired Senior buyer for NEPERA Chemical Co., Harriman, and retired President of operations and manager of Florida Waterworks, Incorporated, entered into rest on Monday June 11, 2012 at his home he was 93. The son of the late Fred & Katherine Nelson Green he was born on October 30, 1918 in Florida, NY. He was married to the late Audrey Green. Ray served in the Army 31st Infantry Division from 1942- 1947 and was a recipient of 3 Purple Hearts. Ray was President & Superintendent of the Florida Cemetery Association, Chaplain of American Legion Post #1250, Florida, Disabled American Veterans National Amputation Chapter 12, Past Commander of Warwick V.F.W. #4662., he was an exempt member of the Florida Fire Department , member of Florida Fire Department Benevolent Association, Explorer Advisor, Scout Master & Assistant Scout Master of Troop #44, Florida, Past President SS Seward Alumni Association., Florida Lions Club, Historian, Florida Historical Society, member of the Florida Presbyterian Church and Past President of Middletown Stamp Club. Survivors include: 1 sister, Jean Katherine Griffith and her husband Sidney of Binghamton, NY; 1 niece, Karen Maxwell; 1 nephew, Rev. Alan L. Griffith; 3 great nieces, 1 great nephew and 3 cousins. He was predeceased by a sister Helen May Green. Friends May Call on Thursday June 14, 2012 from 6-8 PM at T.S. Purta F.H., 22 Glenmere Ave., Florida, NY 10921. Funeral services will be held 11:30 am Friday June 15, 2012 at T.S. Purta Funeral Home 22 Glenmere Ave. Florida, NY 10921. The Reverend Alan L. Griffith will officiate.
