Kenneth R. Vanderschaaf of Slate Hill, NY, former owner of the Westtown Garage for over 30 years, entered into rest on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at home. He was 69. The son of the late Peter & Margaret Mack Vanderschaaf, he was born April 2, 1943 in Middletown, NY. Survivors include wife, Gloria (Brozowski) Vanderschaaf, daughter, Christine Kocot & husband Alex Kocot III of Warwick; Grandson, Alex Kocot IV; Granddaughter, Kimberly Kocot; Sister, Joyce King & husband John of Spencer, NY; Sisters-in-Law, Janet Vanderschaaf, Bonnie & husband Elliot Mayefsky, and Pamela Brozowski; Brothers-in-Law, Chester Brozowski & partner David Wright, and Robert Brozowski & wife Frances. As well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Peter Vanderschaaf Jr., brother-in-law, James Brozowski. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 6:00-9:00PM and Monday, October 22, 2012 from 9:00 – 10:00AM at the T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route#1, Pine Island, NY 10969. Funeral services will be held 10:00AM Monday, October 22nd at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Pine Island, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local humane society.
