Mary Meleta of Warwick, NY, entered into rest on Friday November 9, 2012 in Schervier Pavilion Warwick, NY. She was 95. The daughter of the late James and Jenny Zownir Meleta, she was born on April 13, 1917 in Manahattan, NY. Mary resided in the lower east side for most of her life, and was a lifelong member of St. Georges Ukrainian Catholic Church. In the last eight years she made her home at Mt. Alverno in Warwick. She truly enjoyed the companionship and care given to her by the residents and staff there. Her most favorite activity was bingo. She is survived by her sister Ann Goral of Warwick, NY; brother Michael Meleta and wife Evelyn of Staten Island, NY; Niece Patricia DeNegri and husband Philip of Warwick, NY; Nephews John Goral and wife Joyce of Yuma, Arizona; and Robert Meleta and wife Karen of Gillette, NJ; 1 great niece and 7 great nephews; She was pre-deceased by her nephew Michael Meleta; Mary's family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Fiore and his wonderful staff at Schervier Pavilion and Mt. Alverno for the loving care and compassion shown to Mary and her family during her time there. Visitation will be held from 10am – 11:30am on Monday November 12, at Mt. Alverno Center 20 Grand Street, Warwick, NY. A funeral mass will be held 11:30 AM on Monday November 12, 2012 at Mt. Alverno Center . Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Queens, NY. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Red Cross, Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief by calling 1-800-733-2767 or by going to redcross.org.
