Mary Guardino Blaikner, 80, a Warwick resident since 1953, died Jan. 1, 2013, at Orange Regional Medical Center after a short illness. She was born on May 7, 1932, in Brooklyn to Giuseppe and Giovanna Abruzzo Guardino. She was a long-time member of the Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 4662 in Warwick. Mary is survived by two daughters, Karen Pilch and Cindy Ferdon of Warwick, and their spouses, Bruno Pilch and James Ferdon; a grandson, Luke Ferdon of Warwick; a brother Giuseppe (Joseph) Guardino of Warwick; two sisters, Lillian Blaikner of Goshen; and Anna Marsan of Lake Worth, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman W. Blaikner; an infant son, Norman Jr.; a brother, Alfonso Guardino; and two sisters, Caterina Reynolds and Angela Torregrossa. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at the T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route#1, Pine Island.
