A long time ago i stepped onto my school bus for the ride home, and sitting in the drivers seat was a man, an Air Force officer, dressed in his Dress Blues. An Air Force LtCol. with a smile on his face and a kind word for a kid who didn't know the difference between a Major and a Lt.Col. at the time. It was a long time ago, but I think he said it was his anniversary and that every year he wanted to wear his uniform on that day. I didn't know at the time what that feeling I had was in seeing and hearing this bus driver say these few words, but over these years I have learned that those feelings were respect, both given and received, honor, and a deep down duty and commitment to our Nation and to those we love. I read my Warwick Valley Dispatch today and read of a great man's passing, a Man that unknowingly had an influence in the direction of my life, a good influence. When I read of his passing, I felt an emptiness a sence of loss. My deepest condolences for you all in your loss. God's peace be with you.
