Obituary of Chester F. Chet Kolodziejski

Chester F. "Chet" Kolodziejski of Florida, NY, a retired mechanic for Stewart Airport, Newburgh, NY, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in ORMC, Middletown, NY. He was 93. The son of the late Antoni Kolodziejski & Mary Nosal, he was born July 20, 1920 in Washingtonville, NY. He was a US Army WWII veteran and saw action in North Africa and Italy. He was a founding member and past president of a camping club called the Country Cousins and a charter member of the Florida Senior Citizens. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 1250, Florida, NY. Survivors include his son, Larry (Laura Anthony) Kolodziejski; daughter, Lori (Peter) Joyce; son-in-law, David Birch; he has seven loving grandchildren; Alison (Jason) DePalo, Corey Walsh, Andy & Krista Kolodziejski, Joseph, Susan and Mark Joyce; great grandson, Porter Jason DePalo; brother, Tony Kolodziejski and 2 sisters, Katherine Hunt and Theresa Bonacum. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Loretta Straub Kolodziejski, daughter, Arlene Birch and grandson, Patrick Joyce; 3 sisters, Frances Fish, Victoria Parella and Mary Heise; 2 brothers, Charles and John Kolodziejski. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 26th from 7-9 PM at the T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921. Legion services will be held 7:30PM. Funeral mass will be held 10AM on Saturday, July 27th at St. Joseph Church, Florida, NY. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Florida, NY.
