Obituary of Stephanie Stella Matusewski

Stephanie "Stella" Matusewski of Pine Island, NY a Laborer with the Walter Chimelowski Farms, Pine Island, NY, entered into rest on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at The Valley View Center, Goshen, NY. She was 98. The daughter of the late John & Anna Sielski Gerczak, she was born on July 18, 1915 in Florida, NY. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Pine Island, a former member of the PLAV Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Pine Island Senior Citizens. Survivors include her five daughters, Christine Burns of Monticello; Joan Galiski and husband John of Florida, NY; Helene Wesolowski and husband Casimir of Bloomingburg; Sandra Koselnak of Seneca, SC and Deborah Sztendor of Pine Island; 9 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandson; Brother, Stanley "Cookie" Gerczak of Texas. And several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Benjamin C. Matusewski and several brothers and sisters as well as 3 sons-in-law, John Burns, Robert Sztendor & Edward Koselnak. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 2nd from 4-8 PM. at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route# 1, Pine Island, NY 10969. Funeral mass will be held 10 AM on Saturday, August 3rd at St. Stanislaus Church, Pine Island. Burial will be St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Pine Island, NY. The family would like to thank the staff at The Valley View Center for their care and support.
