Obituary of Edward J. Brown

Edward J. Brown Sr., a lifelong resident of Warwick, NY, passed away September 27, 2013. He was 82. Ed was a self-employed dairy farmer and former Commissioner of Consumer Affairs for Orange County. Ed was the husband of the late Clara Youngman Brown to whom he was married to for 46 years, and the son of the late Vincent M. Brown Sr. & Mary Weslowski Brown. Ed, an ambitious and hardworking man, loved having his family and friends around and was always quick to lend a hand to anyone; whether it was for his family, friends, church, other civic organizations or strategically developing political platforms and campaigning for the Republican Party. He was an avid outdoorsman, a member of various local hunting & fishing clubs in younger years; and in later years, enjoyed riding his John Deere Gator around his farm to appreciate its beauty and wildlife. One of Grandpa Ed's favorite pastimes was taking his grandkids on ATV and tractor rides around the farm. Over his lifetime, Ed was involved with the Middletown Elks, Warwick Knights of Columbus, Florida Lions Club, Florida School Board of Education, St. Edwards Church, and the Florida Fire Dept. He was a longtime chairman & current member of the Warwick Republican Committee. He is survived by 4 children, Edward J. Brown Jr. & wife Elyse of Southport, NC; Stephen M. Brown & wife Debby of Goshen, NY, Thomas J. Brown and wife Amy of Queensbury, NY and Karen J. Glade & husband Andrew of Montville, NJ; 10 Grandchildren, Jessica Brown of Boston, MA, Erik Brown of Arlington, VA, Stephen M Brown Jr. of the U.S. Air Force, Christopher Brown of Lowell, MA, Emily Lucy and Nicholas Frandino of Queensbury, NY; Chloe and Ashley Cosenza, Alex Glade of Montville, NJ, and Lindsay Tucker of Charleston, SC. He is also survived by his brother, Vincent Brown Jr. and wife, Eleanor, of Warwick, NY; several nieces and nephews, and by his loving companion of 5 years, Gloria Pason, of New Hampton, NY. He was predeceased by sisters Mary Sicina and Dorothy Cocarro. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at the T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921. Funeral mass will be held 10 am, Monday, September 30, 2013 at St. Joseph Church, 20 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921. Burial will be in the Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, NY. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the T.S. Purta Funeral Home.
