Obituary of Joseph Bucky Sicina

Joseph C. "Bucky" Sicina Jr. a lifelong resident of Florida, NY, entered into rest on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Center. The son of the late Joseph C. and Mary Wozniak Sicina, he was born December 9, 1920 in Florida, NY. He married the late Beatrice Harter Sicina, who predeceased him in July 1990. Joseph was a self-employed contractor. He served his country in the U.S. Army, the 94th Infantry Division, in the European Theater during World War II. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Florida, NY, and a member of the American Legion Post 1250, Florida, NY. He is survivored by his children, Joseph C. Sicina III of Florida, NY; Elizabeth (Robert) Akacki, Florida, NY; and Daniel (Kathleen) Sicina of Bloomingburg, NY. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Daniel J. Sicina and fiancé Jyoti Negi, Brooklyn, NY and Pamela (Andrew) DiMattina, and his great grandsons, Nicholas and Matthew of Hooksett, NH. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy McMullen of Haverstraw, NY, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Edward and Rita Mudrick, Florida, NY; sister-in-law, Marcella Bilvin, Warwick, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 20th from 6-9pm at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Ave., Florida, NY 10921. Legion services will be held 7pm at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be held 1:00PM - Saturday, December 21st at St. Joseph Church, Florida, NY. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Florida, NY.
