Nicholas Zis of Florida, NY a retired computer analyst for AT&T, entered into rest on Monday, January 08, 2018.  He was 91.

 

He was a US Navy Veteran who served in both WWII & Korea on the USS Wasp and the YMS199 Mine Sweeper where he was a Radar Technician.

 

The son of the late Sarandos & Ellen Zis, he was born October 11, 1926 in Chicago, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Alice Jane McSherry Zis at home; sons, Nicholas P. Zis & wife Cheryl; Christopher Zis and Thomas Zis & wife Anne Marie; grandchildren, Kimberly Cretaro & husband Jordan, Andrew Zis & wife Brittany and Rebecca Zis; great grandchildren, Jacob & James Cretaro; brother, Robert Zis; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was predeceased by 3 sisters, Sophie Vassalo; Demetra Vassalo & Helen DeCunzo; 2 brothers, George Zis & Evangelos “Sonny” Zis.  

 

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 14th from  1-4 PM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921.

 

Funeral mass will be held 10AM Monday, January 15th at St. Joseph Church, 20 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921.

 

Cremation will be held privately and burial will take place at the convenience of the family at a later date.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
