Obituary of Lucy (Lempka) Schanck
Lucy (Lempka) Schanck, formerly of Goshen, NY, entered into rest on March 15, 2018 at Absolut Care in Endicott, NY, after a short illness. She was 91.
The daughter of the late Frank & Catherine Heter Lempka, she was born on October 22, 1926 in Goshen, NY.
A family statement reads, “Mom’s life revolved around her family. She took great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by all of us.”
She is survived by her three sons, Garrett Schanck (Yvonne) of Endwell, NY, Ronald Schanck (Debra) of Milford, PA & Wayne Schanck (Erin Code) of Reading, MA; five grandchildren, Amanda Boyuka (Trent Moraitis) of Binghamton, NY, Gregory Schanck (Rachel) of Norwood, NJ, Kaeli Van Eeuwen (Adam) of Wurtsboro and Eleanor & Carl Schanck of Reading, MA; six great grandchildren, Bennett & Keaton Boyuka, Lillian & Garrett Schanck, and Scarlett & Elizabeth Van Eeuwen; one brother, Daniel Lempka (Sabina); four sisters, Katherine Slesinski, Eileen Ohap, Barbara Marie Bleser (Ross) and Carole Slover (George); along with many nieces, nephews & cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Garrett Schanck (2003); six brothers, Conrad, Leonard, Joseph Clarence, Frank, Stanley & Richard Lempka; and two sisters, Martha Bigert & Janet Slesinski.
A memorial mass will be held 10:00 AM on Monday, May 7th at St. John the Evangelist Church, 71 Murray Ave., Goshen, NY 10924.
Burial will be in the O.C. Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
