Obituary of Daniel Slesinski

Daniel Slesinski of Goshen, NY, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, February 1, 2015. He was 93. The son of the late Frank Slesinski & Stephanie Wiecek Slesinski, he was born January 15, 1922 in Goshen, NY. A lifelong resident of Goshen, Daniel was a former dairy farmer along with his nephew, Richard Slesinski, which they shared many hard working years farming until 1987. At that time they went into the hay business and was well known for raising and selling pigs. Up until the age of 90, Daniel's passion of farming was mowing and bailing hay. He was a loving husband and father and will be forever missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat of Goshen; sons, Daniel Slesinski & Darlene of Goshen; Bruce Slesinski and wife Bonnie of Goshen; daughters, Barbara Geer of Westtown; Joanne Slesinski of Wolf Lake; stepsons, Tony Shropshire of Indiana; Greg Shropshire of Hawaii; Jeff Shropshire of Goshen; stepdaughters, Gina Havens of Westtown; Lori Fairchild of Maryland; brother, Frank Slesinski and wife Catherine of Goshen; sister, Antoinette Wood of Goshen; 7 Grandsons, 4 Granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Irene Mally Slesinski; brother, Edward Slesinski; sister in law, Janet Slesinski; brother in law, George Wood, 2 nephews, Leon Slesinski and George Wood Jr.; and stepson, Gordon Shropshire. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5th from 3-5PM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921. There will be no funeral service and cremation will be held privately. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Florida, NY in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to Goshen Volunteer Ambulance Corps., PO Box 695, Goshen, NY 10924.
