So incredibly sorry for your loss. Sadly I just learned of Adina’s passing yesterday evening. I feel it as a huge loss. Although I had not seen Adina since right after our high school days at Brooklyn Tech together, she was always with me in thought. She was such a beautiful person in so many ways, I could never forget her. She was kind yet brave and never afraid to speak her mind. She didn’t suffer fools, yet she could be incredibly patient too.
And Adina was multitalented. She made beautiful, unique pottery and gave it to me as a gift while she was in college. In high school we went to museums together and took black and white photos. We had a history class together with an impossible teacher yet she made it bearable with her humor.
Adina lived in the Upper West Side and I lived in Flushing, Queens but we both made it to visit each other’s homes more than once in those high school days. It was at her old apartment where she first introduced me to cold sesame noodles—I loved them, which made her exceedingly happy! She was always excited to share something that would be new to you and she delighted in discoveries in general. Adina loved learning and would see what others did not. While we walked through the Upper West Side one spring day, she elucidated the important features of many architectural gems tucked tightly in the midst of high-rises and bustling streets. There is no one like her that I have met in all my years on earth.
Having not been on social media and in the midst of the pandemic, I prayed she was okay. Last night when I learned she was gone, I was gutted. My daughters who are 9 and 10 asked me what happened and why I was so upset, but I couldn’t explain it to them without crying. We had made plans to meet up multiple times and for one reason or other it never transpired. I am upset with myself for not meeting her again since those halcyon days of yore, but I want to forgive myself as I know she would forgive me, with her tremendous heart.
Adina, I know you fought like a warrior in all your beauty and helped so many with their struggle. As long as I live I will never forget you Adina and I will continue to contribute to the Multiple Multiple Foundation and make the greatest attempt to live in love and kindness as you did, dear old friend.

I just found out about Adina's passing. Adina was a truly giving person. She helped me immensely when I was first diagnosed. We were both diagnosed after turning 40. I will truly miss her support and advocacy. She made a lasting impact on me--just knowing someone else my age who was going through this. Sending healing to her family.

I just learned of Adina's passing. I am heartbroken. There are not adequate words of comfort, not even time, just the consolation that life is indeed eternal. You know that from growing things. And, there is no way her spirit could ever be extinguished. She was a brilliant inspiration to many--may we try to carry on in her footsteps. May you somehow heal and find hope. I am devastated. I knew Adina from Greenmarket and loved so very much how she would fight for what she believed in. I told her last year that I missed her at our FCAC meetings and admired her outspoken nature. Adina was my daughter’s friend at Brooklyn Tech. She and Carrie were roommates at UMASS. I remember a sweet young girl. It breaks my heart that Multiple Myeloma took her so young from her daughter’s and husband. She sounds like she grew into an amazing woman with such light and compassion and courage.

My heart goes out to Adina's beautiful family, Jeff, Claire and Maya, Adina was passionate about everything she did.. She gave voice to many and spoke out to benefit others. Her courage will always be remembered. What I will remember most is her love for her family, the small moments talking with friends, of her cooking with Jeff in her kitchen, marveling with her at her peach tree, driving with her to the New Jersey shore, sitting with her in her backyard partaking of an amazing breakfast she had prepared with the sunlight streaming through the trees, listening and laughing along with her and her husband Jeff and her children as they shared the beautiful story of their life, sometimes funny sometimes sad. She will be missed by all and will always be loved and remembered.

Adina was a fierce advocate for all she believed in - her family, small farms, good food, living with dignity despite all odds. I first met her, baby Claire strapped to her, Maya running around, partnering with Jeff on the farm. A skilled cook, she was always happy to share her knowledge of preparing vegetables into tasty dishes.
At school PIE meetings she never pulled her punches, not letting the administration off the hook, always fighting for the best education for her girls and for everybody.
Driving her to dialysis she talked honestly about her loves and her fears, and her determination to stay with her family for as long as possible.
It was wonderful seeing Adina and Jeff thriving on their new farm, going from strength to strength. Picking up our CSA share, I was always happy to see her behind the table, and also Claire and Maya helping out beside their parents, watching them grow with wisdom and dignity beyond their years - a testament to their parenting.
A few years ago, Adina invited me to see her new kitchen. We shared tea and some of her delicious homemade bread. As I left, she gave me some of her sourdough starter. Each week as I bake, I think of the gift she shared with me. A talented potter, I think of Adina when I see the beautiful glazed jug on my windowsill, or the salad bowl we use every day.
Adina's light will live on in the many people she touched and inspired.

Adina was the most beautiful soul, weathering any storm that came her way in true warrior fashion. She taught me how to swaddle my first born in a ring sling and invited me to attend La Leche meetings with her. It is because of her that I was surrounded by like minded mothers and nursed my babies for ten straight years. She was a gift of a friend in my first years of motherhood and she will forever be a friend. Rest easy, Adina. Your girls will carry your spirit and spunk with them wherever they will go.

Adina was my student at PS163 and a shining star among many . Although this was many years ago she and her family have remained in the forefront of my mind and I am grateful to FB for keeping us in touch.
