My condolences to the family. I had the pleasure of knowing Ms.Bayno for many years. She was more than my music teacher . She was a friend, a mentor, someone to confide in. Because of Sophia Bayno, I survived childhood trauma, and hs. She was there for me throughout my growing uo and when I had babies of my own, she was there for me as well. She was an amazing human being. Wordscannot Express how much she was loved by so many. She is with my parents in heaven now and many loved ones. She was truly a blessing and will be missed

Dear Bayno family, You could not have any idea how much I loved your mother. She made me feel so loved while at Burke. I sat next to Billy in band, ...we Played trombone. She would give Billy a hard time and Would be so easy on me! We had so many experiences with musical productions. I played the piano for several of them in the pit , ..and She let me play “Golde” in Fiddler on the Roof, my senior year. We spent so much time together and I will treasure every moment- I always have.( it was 40 years ago). She was funny and loving and full of energy! She loved her family fiercely! I always wanted to do what she did for children- and I have been teaching music in elementary School for the last 35 years. I recently wrote a note of thanks to her and we reconnected! She told me that she was sick but that cancer wouldn’t get her! Always strong and vibrant, her faith was inspiring. I know that I will see her again! I look forward to thanking her again! Love to you all... you were blessed to have her!

Mrs. Bayno was my high school teacher. I loved being in her productions. She understood teenagers and was a positive influence. She also later directed my mom's choir at St. Joseph's Church in Florida NY. On behalf of my mom and myself we will miss her. From Patty Hillman student and Rita Glebocki choir member.

My deepest sympathies to Ms Bayno’s family... I was her student first at St Columba, and then at John S Burke Catholic High. She was an inspiration, & always pushed us to be better today than yesterday. She made us believe in ourselves when we were ready to quit. She was the best of the best. You four were so vital to who Sophia became. I first knew her before any of you were born. She always thought of you as gifts from God and she cared for you with her heart. She worried over you with your adult problems forever saying her Rosary. We clung to each other many times in the loft. Giving each other prayers and love to go on in tough times. We shared much and she will be missed by me and so many others.

Sending my deepest condolences on the loss of Sophie. I had the privilege of working with her at St Columba Choir. She had the power to make great music come out of so many. Watching her work her magic with children and adults to bring out the best in absolutely everyone. Such a multi-talented person. Sophie was also able to bring us all together in prayer during the weekly rosary. She will be blessed by Mary as she enters the gates of heaven. She will be missed. Sue Bahren, Chester

We have many fond memories of Sophie. As a colleague, I had many happy mornings with her singing our way out of the teacher's mailroom on our way to class. Memories as a parent at Burke, spending many late afternoons making show costumes under her expert eye. Sophie's energy, smile, love and faith were an inspiration to all of us young and old. We were blessed to have her in our lives. Her students will go through life well prepared because she was a excellent teacher and friend. RIP Sophie

Sofia was a dear friend that influenced my life in a great and loving way. We met one morning after Mass and after saying the Rosary, she asked me and another friend if we wanted to join her saying the Rosary at St. Columba in Chester on Thursday evenings. We agreed, The first Thursday we attended we were shocked to learn that we were there to say the 3 decades of the rosary. That was Sophia. Prayer was her lifeline. Rain or snow you knew Sophia was there waiting for us. If we could not make it, she would say it her self . Rest dear friend in the arms of our Savior you deserve it. Pray for us who loved you!

The Lazarus family sadly remembers the many memories shared with "Sophie". It was an honor to be a colleague for over 20 years. Her programs were examples of inclusiveness.
