John L. Caldwell, Jr. aka “Buster” was called home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 8th at the age of 68. He was born August 16, 1951 to John L. Caldwell, Sr. and Eileen DeGroat Caldwell in Hillburn, NY.
With his family, John moved to Warwick, NY in 1960. Growing up he was an avid baseball player for both Warwick Little League and also for the Warwick Valley School System. He graduated from Warwick Valley Hight School in 1969 and then went on to serve our country with the United States Air Force as a Sgt. Policeman in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1972. Then went on to work for Orange & Rockland Utilities where he spent over 25 years as a lineman.
John had a love for nature and captured every moment he could. He also became an avid photographer. Along with these he also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren whenever he was able. As a loving father, grandfather (Pop Pop), son, brother, and uncle you will be truly missed in addition to many other family and friends.
John is survived by three sons; Jonathan Caldwell of New Port Richey, Florida; Jeffrey and his wife Erin Caldwell of Bluffton, South Carolina; Ryan Caldwell and fiancé Bianca Sabogal of Warwick, New York; five grandchildren, Brianna Caldwell, Taylor Caldwell, Trevor Caldwell, Makayla Caldwell, and Isaiah Sabogal; mother, Eileen Caldwell; two brothers; William and Steven Caldwell; Niece, Cireena Caldwell and Nephew, William Caldwell. He was preceded in death by his father, John L. Caldwell Sr.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards T S Purta Funeral Home & Monuments for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.
A celebration of life will be held at later date.
John had a passion to help the less fortunate. Please send memorial donations to the St. Labre Indian School, PO Box 326, Ashland, MT 59003-9989 or online at stlabre.org
