Obituary of G. John Coates

John Coates died peacefully at home with his wife Jackie at his side on July 18, 2020. He was born on July 15, 1941 and had just celebrated his 79th birthday.

John leaves behind his wife and best friend of 40 years, Jacqueline Price Coates. He was the son of the late Gilbert and Helen Lockwood Coates. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Coates.

He is survived by his brother Gary and his wife Yvonne Coates of Sussex, N.J. he is also survived by his nephew Lawson and his wife Michelle of Denville, N.J. and niece Julie Haran and her husband Edward of New Egypt, N.J.  he also leaves behind his brother in law and sister in law Frank and Vicki Price of Muskegon, M.I.

John attended Orange County Community College. He spent the beginning of his career working on pipelines across the United States. In 1980 he became the owner/operator of the Wonderbar located in Goshen, N.Y.  He could talk to anyone about anything and always had a story to share. He retired in 2005. John spent his retirement enjoying family, friends and pets. He also had a small colony of feral cats that he looked after. He loved the game of pool and spent as much time as his health permitted playing the game.

At John's request and because of the covid 19 restrictions there will be no viewing or funeral service. There will be a memorial service to celebrate John's life at a later date.
