Obituary of Joseph S. Slomka

Joseph S. Slomka of Middletown, NY passed away suddenly on Thursday January 28, 2021, he was 76 years old.

 

The son of the late Czeslaw Jaskorzynski and Antonina Bogacki Slomka and the stepson of the late Joseph Slomka Sr., he was born on March 31, 1944 in Duderstadt Germany and moved to the U.S. in 1957 with his mother & brother.

Joe was a US Army Veteran.

 

Joe worked in many different areas over his lifetime, he was a bakery salesman, a warehouse manager, and a computer instructor for the Minisink Valley School District. His last employment was as a computer network specialist for Orange Ulster Boces in Goshen, NY.

 

He is survived by his wife Beverly, his son Stefan Slomka and wife Erin; his grandchildren Madison, Avery, and Cian; his niece Nicole of N.C. and her children.

Joe was predeceased by his mother, both fathers and his brother Marion “Mieczylaw” Slomka.

 

Joe was a people person who could handle almost any task or problem and enjoyed helping others. He was dearly loved by so many people.

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday February 4, 2021 from 4-7 PM at T.S. Purta Funeral Home 22 Glenmere Ave., Florida, NY 10921.

 

A funeral service will be held 10AM on Friday February 5, 2021 at St. Joseph Church 20 Glenmere Ave., Florida, NY 10921

 

Burial of his ashes will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.

 

Due to COVID 19 restrictions and guidelines set forth from the state face coverings are required and the number of visitors allowed in the funeral home and the church are limited so we ask that those that may have to wait to enter please follow social distancing guidelines.

 

Memorial contributions may be in lieu of flowers to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
