Obituary of Thomas Harris

Thomas Harris of Pine Island, NY, a retired Supervisor at Mid-Orange Correctional Facility, Warwick, entered into rest on Monday, March 1, 2021.  He was 87.

The son of the late Jess Harris & Alberta Williams Harris, he was born on November 27, 1933 in Malden, MO.

He was a member of the Pine Island Seniors.  Tom was an avid hunter and loved deep sea fishing.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jane Harris; daughters Renee Harris & Cheryl Harris; 3 granddaughters, Valerie Rogowski; Jaclyn & Rachel Moraczewski; 2 brothers, Carl Harris (Ann) of Panama City, FL; Kenneth Harris (Helen) of Malden, MO; sister, Vernitta Cowell of Arkansas; sister-in-law, Jean Harris; sister-in-law, Stella Pevear (Ed) of Gouverneur, NY; brother-in-law, John Zupetz (Charlotte) of Bloomingburg, NY; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his 2 daughters, Lisa Ann Harris & Cathy Rogowski; 2 sisters, Violet & Laverne; and 2 brothers, Glen & Ronald Lee.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 5^th from 3-5pm at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route# 1, Pine Island, NY 10969.

Due to the current pandemic situation, a funeral service and burial will be held privately.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions and guidelines set forth from the state face coverings are required and the number of visitors allowed in the funeral home are limited so we ask that those that may have to wait to enter please follow social distancing guidelines.
