Obituary of Jean G. Stopa

Jean G. Stopa of Florida, NY, entered into rest peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at Garnet Health Medical Center, Middletown, NY.   She was 86.

 

The daughter of the late Alfred S. Rejmaniak & Elizabeth Hawkins Rejmaniak, she was born on July 20, 1934 in Florida, NY.

 

Jean was a graduate of SS Seward Class of 1952.  She worked as a bookkeeper for Big V Shoprite and for the National Bank of Florida.

 

Jean was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was always there for her family.

 

She is survived by her son, Gary Stopa & wife Loretta; son, Gregg Stopa & wife Stephanie; 5 grandchildren, Matthew Stopa, Jordan Fitzgerald & husband James, Kendall Stopa, Gianna Lindros & husband Ryan, and Andrea Stopa and her fiancé Kieran Siao; great grandson, Rowen Lindros; sister, Marion Kowalyk; Sister, Brenda Lempka & husband Edward Sr.; brother, Kenneth Rejmaniak; along with several nieces and nephews.

 

She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, John J. Stopa and son, Mark Stopa.

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 8th from 4-7pm at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921.

 

A funeral mass will be held 10AM Friday, July 9th at St. Joseph Church, 20 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY.

 

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Florida, NY.

 

Due to COVID 19, the funeral home and church are currently following the CDC guidelines regarding the use of masks.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
