Obituary of Roberta Frischman

Roberta Frischman, of Middletown, NY passed away unexpectedly on February 6, 2021 at the age of 82.

 

She was born on February 23, 1938 in the Bronx, New York, to Barnet and Edith Weintraub, and her sister Sylvia, all of whom preceded her in death.  Roberta graduated from Evander Childs High School in 1955 and went on to receive her teaching degree from State University of New York at New Paltz in 1959, where she met her husband Arnold.

 

Roberta is survived by her children: Mark, (Julie) of El Cerrito, CA, Emily Brent of Clarion, PA, and Madi, (Dave) Beatty, of Waterbury, CT., and her granddaughters Allison Brent of Clarion, PA and Rachael Brent of Brunswick, GA.

 

Roberta was very involved in the community.  She taught at Golden Hill Elementary School in Florida, NY for almost her entire career, shaping the lives of hundreds of children.  Roberta was a congregant at Temple Beth Shalom, in Florida, NY.  Her care and commitment was evident in every aspect of the temple community.  She was posthumously awarded “Volunteer of the Year” by the Jewish Federation of Greater Orange County in recognition of her dedication and generosity.

 

Roberta was very active at the Mulberry House Senior Center where she played Mah Jongg twice a week.  She also volunteered her time during tax season greeting seniors and assisting with data input for AARP Tax-Aide program for the past ten years.  She was a member of the senior center for thirteen years.
