Obituary of Mary Evelyn Nelligan

Mary Evelyn Nelligan of Warwick, NY, entered into rest on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at home, surrounded by her loving family.  She was 91.

The daughter of the late Claude Jerome Hurd & Mary Veronica Macko Hurd, she was born on April 9, 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Mary was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and a member of the Living Rosary Society. 

She is survived by daughters, Mary Ellen Livesey & husband Dennis; Barbara Nelligan; Jo Anne Nelligan; Anne Rao & husband John; son, James R. Nelligan & wife Karen; “adopted” son, Bill Daley; siblings, Donald Hurd; Paul Hurd; Barbara Fiala & Cathy Sweeney; grandchildren, Kate Coomber & husband Andrew, Matthew Livesey, Nicholas Rao, Olivia Rao & Peter Rao; along with 25 nieces and nephews.

Mary was predeceased by her husband James R. Nelligan; brother, Claude Hurd; and sister, Zorah Hurd.

Visitation will be held of Friday, August 27^th from 4-7pm at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route# 1, Pine Island, NY 10969.

A funeral mass will be held 10AM Saturday, August 28^th at St. Stanislaus Church, Pine Island.

Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Pine Island.

Due to COVID 19, the funeral home and church are currently following the CDC guidelines regarding the use of masks.
