Obituary of James Kowalewski Sr.

James Kowalewski Sr. of Slate Hill, NY, a retired carpenter for 50 plus years with local 279, entered into rest on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at home.  He was 71.

 

The son of the late Edward & Sophie Plocharczyk Kowalewski, he was born on July 31, 1950 in West Virginia.

 

Jim didn’t need much to make him happy.  He loved his family & his grandchildren.  He was a hardworking man and a good man.  He was always more concerned about others than himself.  He enjoyed riding his Harley, fishing, gardening and collecting and refurbishing antiques.

 

He is survived by his wife, Stella Gilnick Kowalewski; daughter, Danielle Dailey; son, Joseph Dailey (Christina); daughter, Keri Booth (Mickey); son, James Kowalewski Jr. (Crista O’Brien); 4 grandchildren, Cameron & Riley Dailey; Levon & Jack Booth and soon to be granddaughter; 4 sisters, Alice Krawcyk (Tom); Karen Morace (David); Kathy White and daughter Shawna; Cynthia Kowalewski; sister-in-law, Cindy Kowalewski; brother-in-law, Paul Pierce; along with numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.

 

He was predeceased by his brother, Edward Kowalewski; sister, Sandra Pierce.

 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 21st from 4-8pm at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Avenue, Florida, NY 10921.

 

A funeral mass will be held 10AM Wednesday, September 22nd at St. Joseph Church, Florida, NY. 

 

Due to COVID 19, the funeral home and church are currently following the CDC guidelines regarding the use of masks.
